would have a certain 'command presence' which would alert most military
personnel to the fact that he held or had held high rank... even if they
would not know precisely what that rank was. It's a bit like how an
experienced teacher can walk into a room and take control even when the
students have no idea who they are.[/ooc]

Actually there would be mannerisms that would tip you off that the
character had held a high rank, especially one so recently out of the
service as Mitch.
