They are boxes.  Made of very sturdy and strong plastic.
The box itself appears to be a single molded piece.
The lid also.  The hinges and latch look to be same material and are 
bonded to the box in a matter that says this can be a working box 500 
years from now.
At appears to be just a box.  It just emits a feeling of boxness to you.
Taking it apart would be easy with a laser cutter.
It is that part about not destroying them that has you stumped.
