I barely contain a snort of laughter. The doctor gives me the  
impression that she thinks this will be fun. Somehow I don't think

Kat nods and settles into her chair a bit more (still keeping her hands in
plain view).  "Sure, that's fine.  As stated earlier, I am Dr. Katrina
Cross, and have been employed as the ship's doctor.  I'm not sure what you
are asking when you ask why I'm here so please don't take my next statement
wrong.  I'm here because that is where the ship landed.  I really don't know
how long we are going to be here.  Being the doctor, they have a habit of
not telling me the time table.  Have you noticed that Doctors usually are
just 'in waiting' on ships?  They all want us right away when they get
injured but other then that, we are just left alone.  Not that I'm
complaining mind you, (quick look and smile at the Captain).  I'm glad that
they don't need my services day in and day out.  It gives me time, like now,
to come to a bar and try to get a drink with the crew and/or go shopping.  I
DO try to be approachable in case they want to talk.  I hate unapproachable
doctors myself and take pride that my bedside manner is much better then
most.  I like to be here for the crew if they just want to talk or if they

I've got a very slight grin as the doctor goes through her monologue.  
When she stops to ask her question of me. I just shrug and reply...
"As long as it takes."

Kriger slips in and out of various  shops, bars, restaurants, and 
hostels tracking his quarry.  Suddenly a scent catches Kriger's nose.   
Not a scent of Sir Jace or his body guard, but a smell of burning flesh 
and hair . . .

"Sontograz" shouts Captain Koltarik "get a repair team up to the bridge 
immediately".   Kriger looks towards the astrogation station and at his 
friend Sontograz where a column of flame rages out of the console.  The 
left side of his face a charred shadow of the brown and white patch fur 
that adorned the Vargr 2nd officer.   Sontograz using the last of his 
strength makes a call for help has the Halon rips the air out of the 
bridge suppressing the growing fire.   

Captain Koltarik continues barking commands to the gunnery officer.  
"Fezeick.   Target their bridge.  I've had enough of this." showing his 
focus on the battle at hand.

A system defense boat had jumped the corsair suddenly shortly after 
raiding the yacht of some mogul from whatever system the Captain was 
plundering.   The systems and planets and victims were all a blur to 
Kriger.  After being sold to this ship, the plunders were frequent and 
usually deadly for the victim.    "If I ever get an opportunity to fly 
for the good guys" Kriger thought as he steered the ship through a 
series of yawing rolls trying to keep the system defense boat's bridge 
in the main gun's reach worring every second about his friend, seriously 
burned and probably dying behind him.   The smell.  Charred fur and 
flesh is something that never leaves you.  The ship rocks as a missile 
from the SDB explodes nearby.  "Damed proxemity fused missiles" thought 
Kriger who pitched enough for the missile to miss.   "Dog what are you 
doing" shouted the Captain.    Kriger reacts with a hard reverse of the 
engines while counter-thrusting with the RCS jets to pitch the maneuver 
drives towards the SDB and at full thrust cooked the inbound volley of 
missiles.

Kriger quickly reaches over to another console and brings up the 
astrogation controls.   Sontograz had gotten the jump program entered 
but the burst of fire from his console he never got a chance to execute 
their life saving jump.   Another surge of energy crashed into the 
corsair setting off a fresh set of alarms.  This time life support was 
failing, probably due to a hull rupture. 

"Captain, we can jump at though sealing that breach will be difficult in 
j-space." Kriger called back to Koltarik.    "Jump" screamed the Captain 
and like instinct Kriger keyed in the execute sequence and with a sudden 
jerk normal space vanished.   They lived to fight another day.

It took more than a minute before anyone did anything other than 
breath.  That pungent smell now filling the bridge with stench.   The 
captain hits the comm calling the Doctor to the bridge.   Kriger after 
securing  the pilot station runs to his friend.  Half his face and a 
good third of his body were burned to the third degree.   He was no 
longer breathing.   Kriger's old friend was gone.

Suddenly a pole brings Kriger back to the now as he avoids crashing into 
a local comm box.  A reminder that he needs to check in with the Captain.

I just met the man.  I wouldn't call that a relationship.  I'm loved by my
crew and therefore they don't like me to go off on my own exploring on shore
leave.  Hence, I was escorted to this establishment by the Captain and

means no, I don't have any personal history with him.  Professional history,
I'm afraid would be between him and me as doctor/client privledge.  As for
if any of my associates know him, you'd have to ask them.  Come to think of

Montez' ears droop slightly but then pick back up.  "Well, let us know where you're headed.  We can use some good pointers from some one stationed here on where to party."  

He leans in close, whiskers tickling the Rat's ear;  "Kriger uncovered what may be a plot by one of the anti-Solomani imperial types to tag us as spies or at least keep us under tight surveillance.  The captain sent me out to find you and Dr. Gwerf and see what I could find out about this plot.  Supposedly there are a group of local IN pilots, probably all second raters, who are in cahoots with this IN lieutenant."  Montez looks around suspiciously and his fur bristles;  "I would think our new captain could use his prestige to intimidate the lower charisma naval types into leaving us alone but it seems you humans aren't as refreshingly direct and open as we Vargr."

OOC: You are still in the starport proper, so the "police" are the SPA 
security.  They have top flight TL E equipment.  You can certainly try 
to crack their comms, but everyone at the table knows that it would a 
very non trivial task.  Also keep in mind the difference between the 
silence between the two missing parties.  Jace &  Anousheh are just not 
answering their comms.  Mad Dog's party comm units are reporting as off 
the grid.  That is very odd for an Imperial Star Port of this caliber.

A pair of SPA security open your cell and escort you to another room.
You are pointed to a chair on one side of a table.  Once you sit down, 
you notice a subtle, but strong grav field start up.  You know better to 
even try to get out of the chair.

He is one who understands that some things are best served cold.

The guards leave and you are left alone for at least several moments.
Then the door opens, and the woman who arrested you walks in and sits

There are times when I wish my crew didn't follow my orders so  
explicitly. This would be one of those times I could use a rescue.  
But at least if the deputy marshal has me hauled away I might get a  
chance to see Boris before to much goes awry.

Kat follows directions and stays still and steated but her mind is going
faster then even Taz could pilot.  What had started out as a drink at a bar
has totally turned out to be a fiasco and she STILL hadn't had a drink.  She
really starts to pay attention, trying to remember the name of the Deputy
Marshall and hopes this isn't the normal shore leave with the Captain.

With innocent eyes, she just stares at the Deputy Marshall and the captain.

You quickly and efficiently searched (there goes the comm, percomp & 
ID). Then you are cuffed, lead out side and placed on a small grav 
platform, which are are held securely and safely in place by a local 
grav field.  Things get fuzzy then because of the holo field projecting 
around your head and the white noise generators that block out any 
unidentifiable sounds. You do notice the damn thing start to move.

"We will probably find the Captain in the hands of the SPA.   The INS 
base here probably doesn't have SP's.  He left to stir up trouble and

Kat looks relieved at bit about hearing the Captain should be ok.  She
actually believed it but felt it didn't hurt to allow her shock to be shown.

"Please excuse me if I keep referring to Mitch as Captain since that is what
I think of him as.  Mr. Mitchell just doesn't sound right.  Has my
relationship with him been strictly professional?  That is a tad personal
isn't it?  I haven't known him that long to be much of anything else.  I
HOPE I don't give the impression that I'm an easy person to just jump into
ANY relationship.  As for the crimnal elements on this planet...I wouldn't
know.  I don't know any myself and haven't been hanging on the Captain to
follow his moves."  Kat leans in a bit (hands still in plan sight)  "But
just between us girls... he DOES have a good physique and that is definately

After a quick trip to the SPA Security office you are efficiently in 
processed.  It's typically not a flattering garment, but you make that 
orange jumpsuit look good.  The shoe are surprisingly comfortable as 
well. At least they got your own room.  Not too big, but it is all 
yours.  A bunk, a sink and toilet. You've had worse in junior officer 
quarters aboard Imperial warships.  You can't help but think the 
Imperial Justice System has gotten soft in these decadent times.

A decent enough place, better then some of the tube hotels that some 
people stay in when funds are tight.

There is a clerk on duty at the desk.  A young human male, dressed in 
colors that are actually in touch with proper style.  He doesn't notice 
you come in.  He seems to be swaying and tapping out a rhythm on the 
desk with his hands.

You make it back to the ship without incident. That last bit is really bad.
The sky is soooo big, a very un-natural shade of blue with bits of white,
what are those called, oh ya, clouds.  Big chunks of water allowed to roam
without control as you recall.  The air itself seems wet to you, and smells
of salt.

Once inside with the airlock safely closed behind you, you pause briefly to
let your heart rate slow.

I doubt Sir Jace would take Anousheh do a tube hotel.  In fact, Kriger 
would probably start at the highest rated hotel and work backwards, 
unless this place is "on the way".

Kriger actually is hoping to find a bellman rather than a desk clerk.   
Clerks are skilled at protecting information about their guests where 
bellman are more subject to fat tips.   If Kriger can't find a bellman 
to ask if he's seen then, then he will go try and get information from 
the desk clerk, offering a decent information gathering fee if 
necessary.   If lucky, I'll be able to catch a room number as I ask the 
clerk to "connect me to their room".

It's on the way, and your instincts for the hunt are on target.
There is a listing of other hotels and "Spotswood Arms" is just what you 
are looking for.  It's not far if you move fast and catch one of the 
mini shuttle vans (think big golf cart) that make the rounds of the station.

Really!!
I've been in brigs that are less comfortable than this.
If they've damaged my clothes or other gear in the process of  
processing me I'll make a mental note of whoever was processing me so  
that I can make their life a living hell later.

In the meantime. Read the graffiti on the walls and ceiling of my cell.

Take note of anything interesting.
