While the Red box D&D was the first game I bought, and James Bond the
second, Champions a few years later was the first game where I was
actually a player (I had previously run a little of the D&D when I
bought it). I ran and played Champions when I could over the course
of the next 10 years, though it has been over 10 years since I last
messed with it. In fact other than the main Pulp HERO book, and the
Pulp locations book (purchased for use with BRP), my newest HERO
system book is the 3rd Ed. Hardback (might have something for Fuzion
somewhere).
Most of the RPG systems that I buy are simply to see how they've done
things. HERO Traveller sounds quite interesting from this point. At
this point, the only RPG *system* I have any interest in using to run
games is the BRP system, and I can use it to run pretty much any kind
of setting. Shoot, last time I ran Traveller, I didn't even use
rules! Just had the players use the LBB's to do up their character
sheet, and ran it ruleless (I've done the same with GURPS).
