Excellent example of OTU silliness. At the least, the main branches of the
Xboat system would upgrade very quickly. Like from Capital to every sector
capital, and between all adjacent sector capitals. I'd even say out to the
edges of Imperial space towards each major neighboring empire, for
diplomatic reasons. There would, of course, be places where a J6 ship would
be a waste, so they'd stick with smaller couriers for those routes. This
includes little jumps where the main branch needs them, and out from main
branch to the side branch worlds.
And I agree on the maneuver drive too. :)

New? This would be the regional megacorps. If an Imperial citizen can't
count on those, who can he count on?

Costume comes and goes. Look at a modern businessman compared to a Roman
businessman. Or modern soldiers vs. any ancient soldiers.

My point about getting away with it was that it would be secret. By the
time the Imperium knows, it's not limited to that system anymore. And once
the knowledge is out, you can't stuff it back in the bottle. Plus, since
you use J Drive as well as Stargates, the gates are no limit.

Very profitable actually, as they have all that space a J Drive would use.
:)
