There was a short story I read once about a base on the Moon.  There'd been
a battle between US and USSR using slug guns, months in the past (at the
time of the story).  The characters are standing in a domed office, when an
alarm beeps and the base commander says, 'All right.  Everybody down."
Everybody lies flat (I think the office edges have a couple of layers of
sandbags?).  The visiting protagonist is startled, but follows everyone to
the floor.  Seconds later . . . WHACK!  WHACK! WHAWHAWHAWHACK!!" and
everyone gets up and starts putting stick patches on the new holes.
