No.

The Sun is not "a much bigger fusion power plant".

It is a huge, continuous, uncontrolled thermonuclear explosion.

This is like saying, "Well if we can get 12 MW out of Palo Verde  
Nuclear plant we should be able to get MUCH more out of a couple 10  
megaton nuclear bombs."
