      A very nice idea, to be sure...
     Not only would you have the Chef aboard, but the team documenting the event, including technicians, the producer, the chef's personal assistant(s), etc---afterall, the only way this guy can *really* afford such a cullinary oddyssey is by having the whole she-bang underwritten by some large media concern, like entertainment juggernaut ICCN (Imperial Culinary and Culture Network), or one of its rivals.
     Give it a more rough-n-ready spin. The Celebrichef also wants to cover the trip aboard the Tramp Freighter itself, and decides footage with the crew is needed. Not just as they lap up whatever he'll whip up in the Galley, but eat what they cook and attempt to do some typical crew-work aboard a Tramp. Give a nod to the historty of Independant Merchants, as well as recall the romantic/ exotic vibe associated with the whole scene. As, afterall, most of the Imperial Citizenry are planetbound and locked into their lives :)
     The Celebrichef, a guy used to hobnobbing with the nobility, might decide that one or more of these overly-wealthy pals (and their own passel of handlers) is just the thing needed for the scene. A Bwana hunting adventure thrown in to bag the future Main Course.
