Every time something like this comes up, I always flash on Gary
Busey's ex-Confederate General/U.S. Congressman in that Teddy
Roosevelt T.V. miniseries:

Busey, firing his Colt wildly into the Cuban jungle: "Get in there,
boys!  Kill them damn Yankees!"

His character's son/aide, patiently: "They're Spaniards, Daddy.  Not Yankees."

Busey: "Shut up!  Why'd you have to go and spoil it?!"
