Actually, I think his names was a variant on the local word for 
"scribe" or "bookkeeper". 

He did have a rival whose name sounded a lot like the word for a 
purplish-gray color though...

Frankly, the place is so *huge* that many folks could run campaigns 
there and never interact at all.
