Actually, air will accumulate easiest.  At the pressures it will reach
in the middle, it will very likely be denser than water, and probably
in the form of a crystalline solid.  Not that the water will be liquid
either, it will be ice-VII.  And both will be extremely hot, from
falling a couple of thousand kilometres.  It will take them a long
time to cool.
