Actually, there's a Buddhist temple somewhere fairly near me (I'm in
East Tennessee). Near Knoxville, I think. We had some monks from
there as regular customers at the restaurant my Mom owned for a while
in Cosby. Or rather, regular guests of other customers (who were lay
Buddhists, I presume). At first, the robes and sandals were a bit
weird to see in person (rather than on TV). But after a bit they were
just regular folk.
