I guess you've skipped by my recent scattered posts about MNewTU? I'm
using a more-or-less canon map of District 268 and surrounding
systems, but saying that the worlds are linked by jumpgates. Each has
an entry gate at it's solar L4 point and an exit gate at L5. I was
originally thinking max gate capacity would be 5,000 dtons, but I've
since decided to up that to 50,000 dtons (so I can have
Interstellar-War-sized battleships).
To get to immediately neighboring systems, you simply enter the exit
gate with the right vector - you don't need a jump drive. But to
extend your range, you *do* need a jump drive (of the appropriate
capacitty). And you can only jump in straight lines, making certain
systems important because they are Jump-2/3 from several lucrative
destinations.
