I tend to agree.  Besides, if you ask me - not that anyone is, but I
say it anyway - *both* sides are religions:

Each has certain core beliefs that are "irrefutable."
Each has learned books full of canon.
Each attempts to convince others of the rightness of their view.
Each has extremists who get bad press and thus give their
co-religionists a bad name.

Granted, one side appears to be a lot more numerous than the other.
But I think that's really social inertia at work.  People tend to be
intellectually lazy and also tend to cling (or return) to the "known."

Just to be clear: I was raised Southern Baptist and consider myself a
Christian, but I can usually get along with just about anyone.
