I just finished watching "Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem."  (Why?
Because I was bored.  And the Friday midnight matinee is only $5.50).

There's a moment when the Maverick Anti-Hero says he believes that the
government has been lying to them.  The Suburban Housewife objects
with desperate sincerity: "The government would never do THAT!"
Everybody else - from the Jaded Veteran Cop all the way down to the
Blonde Teenage Bimbo and even including (IIRC) the Innocent Little Kid
- turns to stare silently at her for a couple of seconds, then the
conversation resumes as if she hadn't spoken.
