My take on it is that the volume of the jump bubble is effectively
added to normal space as it reconnects. For a brief moment around the
emergence point, the volume of a sphere is more than (4/3) pi r^3. As
the connection area enlarges, spacetime is stretched and flattened
around it like spherical pizza dough. These distortions radiate out
as a big gravity wave pulse, and settle down. Part of the function of
the jump bubble is to protect the ship from the effects of its own
emergence into normal space.
The net effect is that the jump bubble pushes stuff out of the way as
the ship re-enters normal space.
