There is a line missing from this quote which changes its meaning. I should
know I wrote it. It should state
'It doesn't matter what the character generation system, or any other system
in the rules for that matter, looks like to us old players (I've played and
run games since 1978) but will it appeal to the newer players...'

Personally I don't like randm character generation since my players tend to
design their characters backgrounds and then build characters to fit it. Try
doing that with a random system.
