NB: My strong feelings on this matter, I think, have much to do
with the fact that there was a player like this in a gaming group
I was part of in the 80s--he could only be good for so long, then
he'd do something buttf*ck stupid that would inevitably destroy
or nearly destroy a whole party, and he never learned.
I still don't know why that bunch of people put up with him, but
he routinely started fights he couldn't finish and, in games
where it was possible to do so, summoned things he couldn't
control, including on one memorable occasion, the Crimson Bat.
