Actually, I was meaning that he was originally a General.  Jedi
Knights could legally command armies.  BTW, I'd class Obi Wan was a
counter-revolutionary.  Senator Palpatine came to power - created his
Empire - through what amounted to a coup d'etat.  Yes, the other
Senators voted him in.  But I think most of them had to be . . .
managed . . . into supporting him, in one way or another.
