I liked how they handled the space battle scene in Episode VI.  You
were inside the Millenium Falcon (a hotrodded freighter as a command
ship?  oh well) and the battle is happening outside.  You hear engine
noises and the thumps of firing blaster cannon, but quite muted.
Average Audience Member feels that this is "right" because he thinks
these are coming from the battle outside, while Smart Audience Member
knows these are muted because they're being transmitted through the
MF's hull from its own engines/guns.  Both are happy.
