Yes, I have, and yes it would, in quantity.

I believe I said above it would have taken better planes. Also there are
other tactics that could be uses to support such an attack using the same
resources. Example, the "over the top" charge could have been preceeded by
a napalm strike. At the time of the charge the trenches being attacked
allong with the nearby artilery positions could have been attacked by the
"puff the magic dragon" planes. Those planes could have been based on the
same improved bomber design that carried the napalm using the vulcan machine
guns previously mentioned. Like I said, the most bang for the buck with the
least amount of available "space man" tech.

If you build say 24 DC3 aircraft for a WW1 nation. Those aircraft would
outfly anything else in the air. Each could carry 100 paratroopers, 6-8
tons of naplam, or a bank of Vulcans.

Your "space men" provide the plans and better engines for the planes and
vulcans, the formula for the naplam, and the basic tactics.

Add to this basic advantage that those DC3 could drop paratroopers or bombs
pretty much anywhere within there operational range (many times that of WW1
planes) and you have a way to take out a lot of important targets cheaply
that your enemy can not match even if he gets one of your planes.

If you want to get really nasty, add some laser rifles to the DC3 from the
ship's stores for anti aircraft work or straffeing runs as high powered
laser sights that also set fire to your targets.
