That's exactly the way I feel about the mind-reading-device debate.  :)

That's one reason I like Larry Niven's work, he likes to start from a
premise and explore it's consequences.

BTW, your comment made me look up James Burke (not having grown up with
BBC).  Thanks.  I'm now looking into acquiring the Connections series.  :D
