Further reading has found that *any* 3 masses can orbit in an equilateral
triangle. Stability requires circular orbits and perfect placement, of
course. Stable orbits *around* L4 and L5 in messy (real) situations are
possible as long as the primary is at least 25 times the mass of the
secondary, and the tertiary is "insignificant". How stable depends on
outside influences, like Sol and Jupiter.

And speaking of Jump and gravity, I found this:

"In Peter F Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy, a ZTT jump drive cannot be used
in a strong gravitational field. In the first book of the trilogy, The
Reality Dysfunction, the main characters cannot escape from a gas giant's
gravity well before their pursuers catch up with them. Instead, they race to
the Lagrange point between the gas giant and one of its moons in order to
activate their drive. Successful execution of this untried and reckless
maneuver gains captain Joshua Calvert the nickname "LaGrange" Calvert."

That could be an interesting Traveller scenario.
