Hulls are rather important. Fortunately they already are available.

Aircraft hulls are good enough to hold the pressure required to survive
space. Safe zones for rad storms can be included and are not too much mass
too consider- in fact, it can be in among the reaction mass tankage, which
is excellent shielding. Instrumentation and computation are good enough. Nav
aids would REALLY help, but locally there's so little traffic we can feel
our way safely with what we brung along. THRUST is still an issue. If we
ever get over the terror of isotope burners, we have the power supply. We
really DO need to do more research on the erosion problems that existed in
the NERVA reactor/thruster program, but this is not insurmountable, we just
didn't do it yet, as the programs were cut off. Jump drive is simple not
doable, ,the science is not there yet, nor the support matials technology-
samo for woodward effect thrusters, although the pure math is online, it's
the materials and practical engineering that has a way to go yet. But give
me a few BIG DUMB BOOSTERS running propylene gas and high grade H2O2 and we
can build something in orbit to go anywhere in system you want to mess with,
and the moon is a damn fine economics candidate. So's the Jupiter lunar system.

Can we do something about the current gang of thugs and get back to
exploring the universe?
