Small point: The command to "Stand and deliver!" means "Stand up and
fight!" IIRC, it comes from the need for musket-armed troops to stand
calmly in the face of incoming fire, loading and firing their
cumbersome weapons to a set rhythm.
So your pirates are telling their victims to fight or they'll be killed . . .
Well, pirates aren't necessarily sane. Right? :-)
