IMO, Thousand Suns definitely has potential. It feels very much like
Traveller, which only makes sense, given that the two games share the
same inspiration sources (70's/80's space opera novels). But TS has
been boiled down to the bare essentials and has a very streamlined and
consistent rules system.
However, it requires a creative GM, simply because it is very generic.
The authors freely admit this, however, and promise future support
for the "meta-setting" in consequence. There is also apparently at
least one adventure available for free download already (but I haven't
gone to get it yet).
All that being said, the copy of the rules which I have has a whole
lot of typos. But since I got that copy for free (the publisher sent
it in response to my rant here about two-column ebooks being rather
hard to read on a laptop) I can't really complain too much!
