True, any review is based primarily in the reviewers opinion of the subject.
But he makes some good points about the tech & clothes.

I'd say any given movie/show/story should be about equally likely to have a
strong male lead or a strong female lead, if it's only going to have one
lead.  Have a strong female lead in any *one* fiction isn't a politically
correct statement.

This sounds like you misunderstood.  He didn't mean western as in
American/European, not Asian.  He meant as in Wild West, frontier days,
cowboys & gunslingers.
