Hiding in the prone behind a half-topped umbrella was one of the techniques
taught to some German snipers in WWII. Not all of them used it, but it has
its place.

I got within 50 yards of two defense contractors who were using a handheld
thermal to try and find me (they wanted to test their device, and had great
confidence in their ability to spot virtually anything). It only proved to
me that if you have time to examine some technology, you may be able to
exploit its limitations.
