Yeah.  That's what makes it Traveller, to me.

Whedon came right out and admitted that he can't seem to write
anything that doesn't have a superpowered female teenager in it.
IIRC, his words were something like: "It's just something about myself
that I have to accept and move on."

Although, if you consider how well River did against Jubal Early - in
"Objects In Space" - and how she shot those three goons in "War
Stories" - you really can see the movie coming.

Well, they definitely had such in the pilot.  The rest of the episodes
mostly took place on the ship and Inara was the only sorta-Asian
person there.  The tried to put in more Asian stuff in the movie,
though.

Anyone hear subscribe to JTAS?  The latest issue has an article which
mentions that - in the future - everything probably will look new,
because of the prevalence of self-cleaning surfaces and clothing.  So
the Alliance/Imperial/Core folks will always look spiffy, while the
Rim/Frontier folks . . . not so much.
