Well, there's a long list we could make of modern devices that are better
than their Traveller counterparts (lighter, cheaper, more powerful, longer
ranged, more functionality).

Of course, some of these also suggest the presence of infrastructure that we
couldn't really dream of at the time - an iPhone, for example,  is a camera,
media player, text messaging communicator, phone, voicemail, email, web
browser and network connectivity device.  It doesn't really fit any
Traveller device (or combination of devices).

Any GPS device today is better than the map box.

But most of these require infrastructure like the Internet or orbiting
satellites or a cellular network.
