That's what suggested caseless ammo. No brass to eject; makes the
rotating barrels much easier to manage. Load the bottom one off the
magazine, fire when it reaches the top. Mechanically simple, since
there is no casing to eject. Fewer moving parts to break.
On the other hand, "elephant gun" suggests some sort of big bore cased
ammo, lovingly handloaded, possibly with the bullets hand made on a
lathe by some truly anal noble's private machine shop. Sort of like
hand loading for a .50 BMG, but more so.
20-50cr every time you pull the trigger; that just adds to the charm.
But having to extract and eject the casings is going to make things a
lot more mechanically complex.
