It may have made GMing simpler way back when, but it sure doesn't now.
Back when T20 came out, I tried to learn the D20 system. I was
simply blown away by all the possible combinations of feats and
skills. With so many possible options, how can anyone say GMing is
simpler? As Robin Laws says in his little book on GMing, D&D is a
very "crunchy" system because it's got so many little bits of
PC-empowering stuff (which can be combined in so many powerful ways)
that GMs are hard-pressed to predict *anything* about the game
outcome. I don't run my games on tracks, but I'd like for there to be
at least a *street* I can see . . .
