Then my parents lucked out.  Duchess was very sweet-tempered.  She was
coal black, so black that you couldn't take a decent picture of her
(and Dad was a professional photographer).  She was small enough that
she fit comfortably into the bib of his overalls.  He would wear a
dark shirt and carry her this way on purpose, just to see the
double-takes from passersby who never noticed her until she turned her
head . . . :-D
