As I see it, change in this setting is change in the character's
personalities, goals and inter-relationships.  Which I think the PP/AP
system models nicely enough (although I've only read it - my only
actual gaming experience has been one PbP game).  It takes a lot of
Advancement Points to buy significant improvement to your character.
And since immediate benefits are a lot cheaper to get - even the
limited psionics of the game are powered by PPs - AP accummulation is
going to be rather slow.  So characters won't change much
(mechanically) except in very long campaigns.
