While a NATURAL 1G would dissipate at the rate of the square the distance,
would a 1G grav plate field dissipate at the same rate?  I've always
imagined there was a much sharper fall-off after a relatively short distance
away from the grav plate.

Also, I'd imagine if there was an atmosphere, that there would be blue skies
and wouldn't that lead to obscuring the sky - which is the purpose of such a
craft.

Just a few thoughts as I lay try to sleep last night.
