But then they just become "men in rubber suits".

They are aliens, perhaps they don't have competitive markets.
Perhaps they have command markets, or no market as humans comprehend them.

To say the K'kree are unconvincing aliens because they don't behave like
humans is sort of circular reasoning.

Of course I like to have, some, of my aliens to be in-explicable.
