I think it's rather obvious.  The extra Corridor fleets aren't really
there to protect Corridor.  They're there to keep the Vargr from
getting any further into the Imperium than Corridor.  The Spinward
Marches are - in this Big Picture - expendable.  If the folk there
survive and generate tax revenue surplus to their local needs, that's
great.  If not, this won't trouble the Core sectors overmuch.
