Jerry, what your kinda missing is that it is an projection, that is  
only kinda equal area, equal shape, it's trade offs are better than  
other projections for gaming use. We could use stitched together UTM  
gores, now wouldn't that be fun, well, ok I would dig it, but lots of  
other people would be pulling out their hair.
