The dG and dM and for that mater dF, dA and dK were all representations for
White Dwarfs the uppercase letter indicating that the temperature range was
of the same order as the main sequence stars of the same letter
classification. I believe it is now thought unlikely that any White Dwrafs
have cooled sufficiently to have become dM type white dwarfs.
