Honestly I can't give you any specific ratios. Character in question was
always in the Imp Marines. Player wanted a great character. So he kept
pushing the terms. We used book #4 for the creation. Been over 20 years
since the event. My embalmed mind has its weak spots. What I remember for
the 17th character was he was actually able to get an 8th term on dice
roll. Then blew survival on snake eyes.
IMTU I'll disable a character to a degree depending on what is rolled and
what is needed for survival. Muster them out and pin a medal on their
chest. Sort of what happened to me IRL. Not a make or break oin the dice
roll.
This player later proved to be nothing more than a 2D at best hack and
slasher. Making me in later years question the validity of his survival
rolls. Or lack of them if the character wasn't what he wanted.
Can't remember the number of characters that as GM I have rolled up with
players. We do an indepth and for a first time player it can take two
hours for the first character. Some explanation is needed at each step.
There have been hundreds of characters. My own 10 characters for certain
on the average 5 for the remaining two old timers. About 2-3 characters
for the other players. We tried to have at a time one character from each
branch. Changed the team makeup in different games that way.
Most players will make one character. Some bad rolls have made the
average on that around 4 character starts. Before having a finished
character. Hard to say as to what branch. Since there are the different
rolls for each assingment per year.
