Well, to comfortably bear 700 metric tons on concrete would take 118
square feet or so of landing pad area on bedrock. Divided by 3, that's
roughly 40 square feet per landing pad. That's 6 x 7 feet or
thereabouts (2m x 2.5m would do it). So it is doable on bedrock for a
scout. In Sandy soil, 2.5 metric tons per square foot should be
feasible. So you're looking at 280 square feet of landing pad area.
Divided by 3, that's about 93 square feet per pad, or 10 ft x 9 ft
pads (3m x 3m). Landing in clay, multiply that by 2 (6m x 6m).
But I assume for weight vs. volume a scout is pretty median and light
compared to any military ship.
And the scout is not armoured. I imagine many armoured cruisers or
other ships would NOT float.
